At the same time I was struck with the knowledge that the left would undoubtedly start ranting and
railing about stricter gun control as an answer to senseless killings such as this, Aurora, CO, The Sikh Temple in Milwaukee, and the Virginia Tech shooting.
Employing their usual tactics of deceit, misrepresentation, outright lies, and demagoguery, they are trying to once again ban so called assault weapons, and high capacity magazines. They would have us believe that firearms, and the law abiding owners of those firearms, are the cause of gun violence and mass murder. Conveniently, for them, they choose to ignore the real problems we are facing; the breakdown of society, the gratuitous violence in TV, movies, and video games, and the ease with which a mentally ill person can obtain a firearm.
Almost before the police had arrived on the scene of the Sandy Hook tragedy Senator Diane Feinstein was standing on the Senate floor railing against the NRA, gun owners, and the 2nd Amendment. The left has not yet discovered a low point to which they will not stoop. At a time when our elected officials should have been praying for the victims and their families they were, instead, exploiting the tragedy for political gain and the advancement of their own Marxist agenda.
President Obama, Senator Feinstein, New York Governor Mario Cuomo, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and all of their fellow travelers are hell bent on achieving a total gun ban in this country and, to them, the end justifies any means. Joe Biden is even raising the possibility of Barack Obama achieving their goal by executive fiat - in total disregard of the Constitution.
In the very document upon which this great Nation was founded, you will find the following words:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."
Clearly, The Declaration of Independence acknowledges, and enumerates the fact that the rights of man are "endowed by their Creator". These rights are not granted by man, nor by government. It stands to reason that if man is endowed with these rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, then he is also endowed with the right to defend these freedoms. The 2nd Amendment specifically acknowledges our right to keep and bear arms, thus ensuring us the means of defending that amendment, all other amendments, and The Constitution itself against foreign powers, or a tyrannical government.
Because these rights are endowed by our Creator, and not by man or by government, then clearly, no man, nor any government, has the authority to abrogate these freedoms. The Bill of Rights does not grant our rights and freedoms. It acknowledges the fact that those rights and freedoms are God given, and precludes the authority of government to remove them.
As I stated in an earlier post about the Second Amendment, "If the government is ever successful in repealing this amendment, then law abiding citizens no longer posses the means to defend the other 9 Amendments in the Bill of Rights. Without the Bill of Rights, the people become slaves to an oppressive government."
In total disregard of their Oath of Office, which every elected official must take, those on the far left have no intention of preserving, protecting or defending the Constitution of the United States. In their twisted view of America, The Constitution no longer applies. They do not acknowledge that their powers are derived from the consent of the governed. They take an elitist view of the citizenry and hold themselves above the law and in a position of superiority. No, their aim is not to uphold The Constitution, their intent is to shred, eviscerate and totally ignore The Constitution if it prevents them reaching their utopian dreams of what they believe America should be.
As long as we have the right to keep and bear arms, the left knows that they cannot easily ignore The Constitution. That is why we must remain steadfast, and stand strong, against any all attempts to strip us of our God given rights.
"Sic semper tyrannus!"
